The Swift Group has won three top awards in the annual awards run by the UK’s top-selling Practical Caravan magazine. The 2003 Swift Challenger 460 has been named Tourer of the Year, with an additional award of Best Two Berth, whilst the Abbey Spectrum 540 was awarded Best Fixed Bed Model.
Carl Rodgerson, the Group Editor of Haymarket Publications said,
“The Challenger 460 is our Tourer of the Year scooping the overall winner spot from one of the strongest line-ups we've seen in years. Swift has genuinely moved
caravan design forward and once again revealed why it is so popular in the showroom. It's a terrific effort and shows some very intelligent thinking from the new kitchens to the overall design approach.”
He continued, “Without question, the Challenger represents the best there is in contemporary caravan aesthetics, as well as being one of the most practical in the business. And it’s that kind of mix, plus its value for money, that has made it our Tourer of the Year 2004.
The magazine also named the Challenger 460 Best Two-Berth of the Year saying, “We love the thoroughly modern, stylish look. Curved furniture and dashboard-style mouldings to the lounge enhance the focus on design, while Swift can only be applauded for their efforts to improve kitchen space with a circular steel sink and removable draining and chopping board. The 460's L-shaped layout completes this perfect arrangement for two, creating space, comfort and sociability in such an easily towable tourer.”
The Spectrum 540 picked up the Best Fixed Bed award, and was also highly acclaimed, with judges saying, “Abbey has a very much-improved version of the fixed-bed, end washroom layout, and it’s especially easy to use. But what is the clincher is that it’s simply such a beautiful object to behold. Inside, it’s clear from the decorative plastic corner mouldings, and co-ordination of interior design that this is designed to be beautiful – and it works. Could it be the most saleable Abbey ever? Who knows – but it was the original, and now it’s the best – again.”
Swift Group Managing Director Tony Hailey said, “We are delighted to have been awarded these three highly prestigious awards. Winning Tourer of the Year is a real honour, particularly in the face of such strong competition. We always have a great deal of confidence in all our ranges, but it is nice to see their high quality and individual style recognised by an independent party.”
